Successful Reseller Hosting
Web hosting services are in very high demand and therefore any re-seller who knows what they are doing can make a bundle quickly without too much trouble.
However, just like in any other business, one needs to be cautious and to be very much aware of exactly what they are doing.
The first and most important thing you need to do is find a reliable web hosting service. And that host also needs to have a good reseller program. Read more...
What To Ask Your Web Design Company
If you need a web designer, but have no clue about the typical web design process, I am quite certain that you must be feeling a bit overwhelmed about what to expect. As web designers, we oftentimes have a myriad of roles to fill when working with their clients, but as the client, you always have a right to know the complete design process up front. Let’s talk a bit about what questions you may want to ask a potential design firm before they get started on your website.

Hosting Your Website From Home
You might be trying to decide whether you want to host your website yourself rather than pay a hosting company. Maybe you just want to learn how it is done, or you want to save some money by doing it yourself. In this article I'll discuss the most important part of hosting your website from home, the web server.
The word "server" sounds scary and because of this many people think only a professional hosting company can host a website. This is not true. A server is nothing more than software that runs in the background listening to requests from "clients." The client in our case is an internet browser, like Internet Explorer. Read more...
Cheap Web Hosting - Root Access, Do I need it
A lot of times people want hosting with access to root. But what does "root access" mean? Root, or getting root, is receiving the privilege to access all of the places on a computer. If you think of a server/computer as a tree the roots control the tree. The roots of a tree allow water in, minerals in and are the lifeblood of the tree. Anything which goes into the roots goes into the entire tree. Anything which affects the roots of a tree affects the entire tree.
Servers are set up with a similar thought process in that parts of the server are broken down into different areas. Each different area has its own privileges. One area cannot affect another area. For example, if there are three web sites on a server and one web site breaks the other two will not be affected. Each web site is in its own part of the server and can affect only itself. However, there has to be a master account or way into each area or site. If you don't have a master method to access all sites at once it would be a tremendous amount of effort if something needed to be fixed or updated on every site on the server. The method or access to all of the parts of the server is "root access." When someone has root access they can affect everything on the entire server or change everything on the entire server. There are no restrictions with root access. If an error is made in root access it could wipe out the entire server.
So why do people want root access? Who knows. But unless you are leasing your own server and need to affect every account on the server you don't need root access. There are some things you can do to make your site run more efficient with root access, but unless you know what you are doing you could destroy the entire server. And cheap web hosting providers are not going to allow that to happen because chances are there is more than one client on the server. Besides that's what the webhosting company is being paid to do-manage the server where your hosting account is. It's not your job to manage the server, just to manage your own web site.
Web Design And Web Hosting For Beginners
Blog - Web Hosting
This is a basic start for beginners into the world of web design and hosting. In this article we won’t be covering such subjects as locating and researching niches. Our goal here is to get you, the beginner familiar with the groundwork of a marketing website. The address (URL) for a website is a domain name is that is typed into an Internet browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Netscape) to enable visitors to access your website, without having to undertake the much harder task of remembering your site as 263.119.69.12 or whatever the numbers might be.

You will find that the domain names are very distinct, giving you only one of each, an example being eBay.com .However, you will find there are an assortment of extensions; the most familiar being .COM, .NET, .BIZ, .ORG & .INFO.

Beginners, along with anyone else can register a domain name with a wide assortment of authorized registrars. The most popular length of registration time is typically for 1 year, with other time spans ranging from there up to ten years. A domain name is renewable and generally is priced from $5.99 up to $9.99 or more for the preferred extension of dot com. Lesser extensions can be purchased for as low as $1.99 but are felt to not be as effective as the original dot com.

After that, you will need "hosting" on the Internet so that your visitors and prospective customers can access you website 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You are actually buying disk space on a server and bandwidth on a monthly or yearly basis.

Your choice of hosting will depend on the type of website you are going to build. Most beginners start with a cheaper shared hosting plan, and later advance to a reseller’s account, virtual private server or dedicated hosting package.

In addition to disk space and bandwidth, further items to consider should include the number of subdomains and add-ons permitted, the type of control panel, etc - things that you will obviously pick-up as you gain experience.

Lastly, you are ready to build your website. Web design is not as complex as it once was, with the availability of a variety of graphical web tools now on the market - my personal favorite is XsitePro. Aside from a web design tool, you will also need a picture/graphic editor. The one I like to use is Adobe's Photoshop.

By surfing around the web or using search engines to view the top sites in the market you’re aiming for you will get design ideas from the other websites. Don’t outright copy a particular site; just take the best ideas from each to base yours on. A more simple option would be to buy a web template. These start around $9.95 and go up from there. Template Monster is one of the best of these providers and has a huge selection to choose from. At point the beginner now has his web presence and Is ready to move onto the more in depth subjects as advertising, SEO and affiliate options.
